PARKING:
Parking is in the training field. If leaving your dogs in the car between
training, please ensure they are contained safely within a crate or
tethered to enable adequate ventilation by leaving doors and windows
open.
EXERCISING
& TOILETING YOUR DOG: Please keep your dogs under close
control. PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW YOUR DOG TO PEE ON THE EQUIPMENT! Encourage
toileting away from the training areas. Please bring poo bags and clean
up after your dog and take home. There is a lovely walk down Debdhill
Bridleway opposite the entrance to the field. Your dog is allowed on
lead to visit the toilet block and along the top of the large field
towards the entrance gate. There is a no dog policy in place on the
camping/football field.
Please
remember to pick up. SIT Dog Training promotes responsible dog ownership.
WHAT
TRAINING GEAR DO I NEED FOR MY DOG?
Harnesses are fine but by law your dog must also have a collar with
ID The Control of Dogs Order act 1992 states that ‘any dog in
a public place should wear the name and address of the owner either
inscribed on the collar or a name plate or disc attached to it.
A normal clip on lead on a flat collar is the best. Puppy lead or training
lead. FLEXI LEADS are not suitable for training. A long training line
for distance training is useful.
Head collars can be used for obedience and for control between exercises,
but are not safe when doing agility or using a long training line.
Please ensure that your equipment is fitted securely and will not slip
over your dog’s head.
NO CHECK CHAINS, PRONG or SHOCK COLLARS ALLOWED!
TRAINING TREATS & TOYS
Please bring your dog’s favourite toy, balls on ropes, and tug
types are the best for motivating them. No squeaky ones please.
Treats? Part of your dog’s daily food ration,
Cocktail sausage, hot dog sausage, meaty strips, and cheese, lick treats
are ideal. Treats must be prepared in pea sized pieces to be easily
eaten. You will need a plentiful supply of these, easily accessible
in a container, Treat bag, bum bag or pocket, not plastic bags! No crumbly
treats please as crumbs on the floor will distract other dogs. Treats
are on sale if you run out. Please note; If your dog is on a special
diet then be advised by YOUR VET.
Sue
also welcomes Clicker training. Clickers are on sale in our shop.
WHAT
TRAINING GEAR DO I WEAR? Make sure you wear suitable comfy
clothing for outdoors. Layers are best. You must use sensible and suitable
footwear such as Trainers, Stout Shoes or Boots with non slip soles.
The grass can get very slippy when wet. Loose fitting shoes like sandals,
heels of any kind, or similar light footwear are totally unsuitable
and could put you or others at risk of personal injury.
We will train in most weathers. If you can get there we will train.
We have shelter and your cars will be close by if the weather turns
bad. We will make every effort to contact you if there are any changes
to training. Check your emails, texts, facebook and our website pages
for any cancellations. If in doubt contact Sue before 9am on the morning
of training.
AGILITY EQUIPMENT: NOT
TO BE USED UNSUPERVISED! ADUSTMENTS TO THE EQUIPMENT SHOULD ONLY BE
MADE WITH FULL CONSENT OF THE INSTRUCTOR. Children are always welcome,
but please make sure they do not climb on the equipment. PUPPIES UP
TO 1 YEAR ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE LARGE AGILITY EQUIPMENT. PLEASE DO
NOT ALLOW DOGS TO PEE ON THE EQUIPMENT.
CANCELLATIONS:
Training maybe cancelled due to illness, weather conditions, holidays
or competitions & When the centre holds it's family camps. You will
receive good warning in advance wherever possible.
Please check on SIT Dog Training website or facebook for cancellations,
also make sure you have supplied your email address and mobile number
and keep them updated. Sue will text you. If in doubt, please contact
Sue before 9am on the morning of training to make sure.
CONDUCT EXPECTED OF ALL HANDLERS &
THEIR DOGS:
Please keep your dog under close control when working on and off lead.
Please
do not allow your dogs to bark all the time. We lost our last venue
because of excessive barking. It is normal for some to bark when excited
or worried. However it is extremely unpleasant for others and the dog
training instructors need to be heard. Please focus on your dog and
don't let it bark continually. Keeping your dog distracted with obedience,
tricks and toys will help this. Moving away so your dog cannot see the
other dogs and keeping in the car between exercises will also help.
We can also help you so please ask for our advice. Please don't take
it personally if we ask you to keep your dog as quite as possible. Thank
you for your cooperation.
All
dogs must be kept on-lead at all times, except when
required by your instructor to be off-lead. or the exercise predicts
off lead. If you don't feel comfortable letting your dog off then please
say.
Harsh
handling of dogs, smacking, kicking, check/choke chains, and the various
punishment collars (e.g. citronella), water spray bottles, rattle cans
are not permitted.
Please
allow sufficient space between dogs in class so as not to provoke any
unwanted aggression.
Do not allow your dog to stare into other dogs eyes.
If there is a risk that your dog may bite another if it enters their
space, then you may be asked to muzzle your dog with a Baskerville type
muzzle in between exercises.
Extremely
aggressive dogs will not be allowed at group sessions. Ask about a 121.
Do
not treat other people’s dogs without their permission.
Ask before handling and approaching other people’s dogs.
Some
dogs do not cope well in group situations. If it is decided that the
group is not for your dog then you will be offered private lessons.
IT
IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN DOGS BEHAVIOUR.
SHOULD YOU ALLOW YOU’RE DOG TO INVADE ANOTHER DOGS SPACE HE/SHE
MAY GET BITTEN AS THE DOG ON THE LEAD MAY FEEL THREATENED AND SIT DOG
TRAINING WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE.
VACCINATION
& HEALTH: Please make sure that your dog is on a regular
vaccination program and microchipped. You may be asked to show proof
of this. We also accept Titer testing.
If your dog is unwell or has kennel cough/runny nose, please inform
Sue and stay away from training until clear. If you feel unwell then
also consider staying away as partaking in strenuous exercise is not
advisable when your body is coping with infection.
NO BITCHES IN SEASON ALLOWED to attend classes. They must be clear for
at least 5 days before returning.
REFRESHMENTS:
We have hot & cold drinks available, just a small donation is required.
You are welcome to bring pack ups if you are staying all day. Cake donations
are always welcome.
TOILETS:
Yes
SMOKING:
No smoking other than within your vehicle
or off the site. Please extinguish within your vehicle.
FAMILIES & CHILDREN:
Families are always very welcome and children make great trainers! All
children under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult. If there is
more than one of you then make sure you take turns in training your
dog. Giving multiple commands is very confusing for them. Mums &
Dads can of course help their children. Please remind your little ones
not to approach other dogs without asking. We have some toys on site
to keep the young ones amused.
PAYMENT: Weekly Group sessions PAYGO. To be paid at the beginning
of the session when signing in. Please see PAYMENT
TERMS & CONDITIONS below.
